When our clients approached us to help them select a home to purchase in the Bridle Path area in Toronto, we knew this spectacular home was the one. The polished white marble slab flooring and ivory paneled walls created a blank envelope to add layers of soft colours and contrasting textures. We incorporated a large, round tufted ottoman that was bold and dominating to anchor the space and add undeniable luxury. The size of the grand reception hall, open to the upper mezzanine level, needed to be grounded, and at the same time, draw your eye upward to appreciate the beautifully hand-crafted glass dome above. A composition of furniture in the center of the grand hall creates a strong statement. Contrasting shapes, metals, and textures creates an inviting vignette leading your eye towards the living room. The perfect shade of mulberry coloured velvet drapery is trimmed with an intricately laser-cut ivory wool flower motif along the leading edges. We kept our lines simple and spare. The juxtaposition of opposing forms feels modern, approachable, and unexpectedly at home in this architecturally traditional room.
