Our Favourite Things
Olivia's top 5 things she loves at the moment
Favourite SS26 Fashion Show – Bottega Veneta
Bottega Veneta does so much right, and this runway was no exception. For their SS26 show set, they paired up with 6:AM glass to create blown-glass cubes as seats for their guests. They created a bespoke palette of ten colours that “were carefully selected to enhance the interplay of transparency, density and light.” The shape of the cubes were meant to be reminiscent of stone architecture, and ultimately create such a beautiful play with light and shadows. They were the perfect backdrop to the beautiful textures and palettes of the collection.
Favourite Stoneware Artist – Jane Yang-D’Haene
I first discovered Jane-D’Haene back in 2021 when I came across one of her side tables online. I instantly fell in love with her ceramics, and her use of neutral tones and textures. Over the years, her artistry has developed into bolder pieces with lots of movement and interesting forms. What I find so beautiful is that all of her pieces are a representation of her narrative and reflect the inner world of her thoughts, feelings, and memories. You can see that reflected in the use of colours, patterns and mediums, which make her pieces so unique and special.
Favourite Florist – Louis-Géraud Castor
Whenever I am in need of floral inspiration, I always find myself scrolling endlessly through Louis’ work. His arrangements are said to be “organic works of art”, and this is heavily influenced through his history of being an art dealer. He applies his knowledge of art to florals through his keen eye in hunting. Just like sourcing the perfect art piece for his clients, he uses that thrill to find the perfect florals for his arrangements. One thing I really love about him is his philosophy that the relationship between a flower and a vase is essential, and that one cannot truly exist without the other. He believes that a bouquet should never be gifted without the vase to accompany it, which I just love.
Favourite Lighting – Olivia Cognet
Through the use of clay, Olivia is able to achieve a freedom in her art to create unique forms in all shapes and sizes. I personally love her lighting collection, though she also has a wide range of furniture and accessories as well. What I love about her work is the scale that most of her pieces achieve in a space. They are also so layered that you slowly discover them the longer you look. She mainly uses neutral colours, which allows for the forms and interesting shapes to speak for themselves.
Favourite Retail Store Design – Cult Gaia Miami Flagship Store
Cult Gaia is an LA based label that is inspired by nature and femininity, and in March 2024 they opened their flagship store in the Miami Design District which mimics the brands ethos from the inside out. The exterior of the store is made up of an 1800 piece tiled hand-painted Tree of Life mural, which was both a nod to the Founders Persian heritage, and the tropical climate which the store is located. The interior of the store has beautiful natural hues and is full of light, mainly brought in from the 7-foot-wide oculus found within a central dome in the store. The space also features a 12-foot concrete sculpture, which was crafted by the Founder’s mother, in the shape of a female silhouette. My favourite features though are the hundred hand-chiselled sandstone blocks that are back-lit and act as a beautiful display backdrop, and the serpentine sofa which incorporates a 14 foot tall Banyan tree.
